Yes, there is a pecking order and a block next to an ExPlat does mean more than a block next to a Gold, sorry. I don't know how sophiscated their blocking is to tell you if two Plats make a more block than a single Plat or and ExPlat and a Gold, etc.

I can say that one time I was on an AA with only 1 single empty seat on the entire plane, it was the middle seat between me (Plat) and my business colleague (BA Gold - oneworld emerald - equiv to AA ExP)
