Thanks for the advice. Looks like I could ship it UPS uninsured for about $400, but if I declare the full value it is almost $1000. I'll probably stick with checking it. Afterall, this case is specially designed for shipping a keyboard as checked luggage.

I agree about parking at the terminal - that's why I was thinking of a porter who would wait at the curb with my luggage while I go get the car.
