It depends upon whether the airline has an interline baggage agreement. If it is a DL or skyteam flight you should make sure your baggage tag is checked through to your final destination... BOS. There are not many airlines that are not in the interline airlines... Southwest, JetBlue and a few others. From your post it seems to be on DL, and so after getting through customs, you can just turn in your bags.
