A couple of additional quirks:

aa.com would not take my email address in the profile because it did not conform to the format: [email protected]. Instead, mine is [email protected].

The second problem I encountered was booking flight, then going back later to change my seat assignments to exit row. Exit row aisle was available but when I selected, the seat number in my reservation showed "unassigned". However, after some fiddling and going back to the reservation, the aisle exit seat showed up. Proceeded with the rest and they all first showed "unassigned" followed later by the correct seating.

On the plus side, I called aa.com CS about the email address and it had already been corrected (not sure how or why). The agent was also very helpful, apologetic for problems, said they are working hard to get the bugs out
