I'm frustrated.
I have not been able to retrieve
any of my current reservations on aa.com from the moment I have purchased them - I get the usual error.
Tonight I get a new and even more annoying quirk.
I found the flights I wanted and held the reservation (I hold because I've never been able to select seats on an immediate purchase for some strange reason - another "feature").
The select seats screen showed me no allocated seats and also had an error under status.
I went to pick the seats myself. All the exit row seats I wanted were available (which is good) but as soon as I pressed submit, the browser reported an error "The form contained no data". I tried over the course of about 20 minutes, each time with the same result.
I
was able to look at seatmaps in another browser window normally but any attempt to retrieve my held reservation in a new window produces the standard "cannot be retrieved" error even though the record locator is shown.
Trying a different tactic about an hour later, I started a new session in a different browser and did a new search for the same flights. I selected the same flights in the hope that the problem with seat selection had now been fixed. I was relieved to get exactly the same price as earlier but as soon as I tried to hold, it now informed me "duplicate reservation" and I was unable to proceed. Grrrrr!
Another little "featurette" which seems to be new is that the original reservation rejected my mobile phone number which had previously been accepted on the "new and improved" aa.com and which was in my profile. To fix this I transferred one digit from the area code box to the number box and it worked! I wonder how long it will be before we get back the functionality we had on the
old aa.com
PS - current status is that NO bookings are possible at the moment.
