Other airlines have proved that you don't need to convert the FFP currency from miles to dollars to enable redemption on every seat. NZ is very smart to confuse its members thinking they are getting what they want however forgetting that they are burning far more points than before. It also allows NZ to change earning rates as they want, eg all Asia-Europe routes are earning a pathetic 35 Airpoints on partner airlines while NZ only flies HKG-LHR. NZ-Asia routes only earn 35 Airpoints which is lower than Australia-Asia's 45 Airpoints. Does not make any sense. It is the only airline among *A carriers to do this. It's funny because it seems NZ is discouraging Airpoints members from flying a partner airline while continuing to be part of the alliance.
The few things I would like to see:
1. Remove the service charge (currently $100 per booking) on the already expensive *A redemptions, or make this available online like NH or AC to prevent the fee.
2. Stop discriminating *A partner flights earning.
3. A co-brand credit card in Australia.
4. More retail partners.
5. Honour *A baggage policy by allowing free checked in baggage on Seat Only fares for *G members.
