I'm passing through Hong Kong and have about a day and a half to spend in either Shenzhen or Guangzhou. The sole purpose of the visit is to buy some "replica" clothes, bags, shoes, etc. for family and friends. I don't plan to buy a huge quantity, but I'm sure I'll spend a few hundred dollars.

I have previously made this type of trip to Shenzhen, spending the day at Louhu Commercial City. That works well enough, although I find that bag vendors there are going to increasing lengths to hide their goods, which can make it difficult to shop around.

Does it make sense for me to consider going to Guangzhou? Will I be able to buy in non-wholesale quantities? Will I be able to find everything I want in the span of day? (One advantage of Louhu Commercial City is that everything is under one roof.) Will I need to hire a guide? Will there be as much selection as Shenzhen? Will the prices be better, worse or roughly the same as Shenzhen?
