I agree (and sympathize) with everything up until this point. Setting aside the fact that I manage to avoid buy ups about half the time, when they do happen, they are supposed to put you in the lowest remaining fare bucket (which is often, but not always Y).
It was my own fault for forgetting to bring proper documentation. For whatever reason, your fault or not, the point is, pray you never miss an FM flight!
