I personally think you'd be better off only spending the 40K miles for a business class award ticket. You would not have to worry about coming up with the extra miles, plus P class is not that much better than J class on the transcontinental runs. Is a little bit better seat and the use of a DVD player really worth the extra 20,000? I don't think so, but I'm not the one buying the ticket either.
