I have a hot deals flight booked. I want to upgrade to Value Fare which is an extra $80. It appears my only online option is to cancel and rebook (no change fee for MVPG) which will reset my position on the F waitlist. If i call in and pay the fare difference will that change my position on the upgrade list?
The price difference right now is only $30 between lowest published and Value. I'm sure any MVPG who really wants an upgrade will buy up leaving no U space later. I also dont want to be on the bottom of the instant upgrade waiting list (no U seats available now)
Yes this will move you down on the upgrade list if you are currently ahead of any Golds. The agent will need to "rebook" you and request your upgrade again... However, if you are on "value" fare, the minute "U" space opens up you will be upgraded automatically. Besides, in another thread AS mentioned that at 36 hours out, if there is an F seat open the Gold on "value" fare will be upgraded regardless of "U" availability.
If I were you, I'd set ExpertFlyer to notify you when an "U" space opens up then you can immediately rebook yourself into the higher fare bucket and snag the upgrade.
