I have a hot deals flight booked. I want to upgrade to Value Fare which is an extra $80. It appears my only online option is to cancel and rebook (no change fee for MVPG) which will reset my position on the F waitlist. If i call in and pay the fare difference will that change my position on the upgrade list?

The price difference right now is only $30 between lowest published and Value. I'm sure any MVPG who really wants an upgrade will buy up leaving no U space later. I also dont want to be on the bottom of the instant upgrade waiting list (no U seats available now)
