One of the 767-200s did the LAX-IAD-LAX route also for a number of years. I used to have a preferred C seat (the single with the table next to it) recorded in my travel profile. My Outlook calendar goes back to January 1995 and I was already flying that route regularly (I think I started toward the end of 1994). But I didn't start saving my itineraries until mid 1998 with the equipment noted.
I'm pretty sure it was consistently a 767-200 for several years up to 1998 (I have the records of the 767-200 from most of 1998, and as noted a standing preference for a specific C seat for several years).
According to my trip records: In 1999 and the first part of 2000 it was mostly a 747 and then switched to 777 in the later part of 2000 but it was not consistent. There were a few trips on 757 and I see trips on 767-300 and back to 747 for some trips in 2000-2001. Even in some later years I see 747s sometimes for periods of time and 777 other times. I think they may have been swapping equipment on international routes at different seasons and putting what they had available on this route.
Well, that was a trip down memory lane.
