Does this sound plausible? Has anyone observed this type of behavior before preceding a downguage? Stinks if it's true, as I chose a less convenient routing in order to score a UDU to C!

I think it might have more to do with delayed flights from Europe causing misconnections on the 4PM IAD-LAX/SFO frequencies. They are probably protecting people on the later 5:30-6PM IAD-LAX/SFO flights in hopes that folks will make those connections.
