I did this a couple years ago.
Bought A-B. Needed to position C-A.
However purchasing C-A-B was cheaper.
Kiosk check in for both itineraries. Credited each PNR to a different FFP.
Told gate agent and f/a I had 2 seats/boarding passes.
No questions asked.
