We are confirmed in coach for ATL-LAX, and waitlisted for First; Delta told us that to move to a different flight we'd have to pay a change fee. No, we will not cancel if we can't get the upgrade for that one flight. Just hoping for the best. Wish we could have bought when the full-cash price was $2600 vs. the $4000 is is now, but my wife was waiting for some medical tests before we booked (all turned out okay so we're going, but by the time). After the 8 1/2 hours for FOR-ATL, the 4 1/2 for ATL-LAX won't be TOO bad. We do typically fly in Economy. This was a splurge.
