i know this'll be very hard to answer- but looking for thoughts on the merger. I'm currently and will be stationed out in asia for the next few years. I've always held on to my status at continental and miles for when i return/upgrade to biz.

with the upcoming merger, are the points going to devalue? is the status going to be harder to attain now? there's now two lines of thought for me

1. all stays the same- continue buying tix/upgarding with points and maintain status year over year.

2. eff it- blow my miles as fast as possible and start accumulating cathay points.

....

tough choice!
