Shantanu, was your visit before Oct/Nov 2009? See my edit to post #4 above. I wonder if the Tower's relatively new online booking option put an end to the concierge being able to sell untimed group tickets. Or had the concierge maybe just run out of group tickets temporarily?

You can book tickets to the summit online - there is a little link which changes the prices to display the summit ticket prices - Eur13.10 per adult (as opposed to Eur8.10 for the 2nd floor).
Yes, and it is not a very obvious link. Click on the text to change to the Summit tickets.
