The Same Day Change is for the same city pair. Changing the city pair is not a "stand by" type thing... you will most likely be facing a fare change to route you over DFW.
Same day confirmed changed is NOT standby, AND the rules clearly state you can change connecting points or even the number of connections (i.e. you can take a nonstop). Even in regular standby you can change the connection cities, though that could be risky.
