I have to disagree with you.... when you serve pax and you asking them if they want drink etc and they have headphones on. You are standing less than 3 or 4 foot away from them. They nearly always have to take their headphones off for them to hear what you are saying. They are not going to hear cabin crew shouting instructions when they are 20/30 foot away.

The plane is screaming down towards the ground and about to crash. Would you rather :
A. hear lots of screaming and shouting
B. sit there watching the video with your noise cancelling headphones on, oblivious to your impending doom.
I assume you would realise something had happened after the plane had crashed into the ground, and you would then remove your headphones, before gracefully exiting your seat.
