I seem to recall that following the failed christmas day attack in the US, there was a security directive advising airlines to switch off the moving map early on in the descent. Since there is no way of isolating the moving map display it means the whole IFE needs to shut down. I don't know whether BA have follwed this advice and that's why the IFE goes off so early.
