I'd like to think that anyone who was making such a trip on their own would know to treat any said person as someone
essentially completely unknown they had just met, yes met in an arranged sense, but knowing nothing about them. If not, then there are other issues.
I don't see how being inside the lounge puts the child in any great or greater danger at all? Nor do I see how meeting someone unknown (and that you know is unknown) for a very limited purpose puts the child at any danger beyond that faced walking down the street.
Entering the lounge with someone does NOT put you under their directional control, not even in the context of an under 18, the only responciblity BA would say is falling on the adult is to prevent access to alcoholic substances (or effectivly to discharge BA from their responciblity in this area by accepting it).
Conversely, would the typical ba97.com traveller want the job of keeping an eye on someone else's child they've never met before when they're probably intending to be in the lounge to have a quiet read or do a little work?
I think the 'typical' ba97.com traveller would be someone so schizophrenic they wouldn't be in a possition to leave the house!
Personally, I disagree with approaching people on ba97 to ask for lounge access, I think that is
one of the reasons why some people no longer share their flights there.
I only said it was the best bet - out of the available options if the objective is lounge access, which it probably is the best option. It is probably the only option.
I'd love to know why you have alarm bells ringing just because a teenager has contact with an adult very little is known about. If the teenager is smart enough to hit the alarm bells if needed what is the danger? If not, then I'd question whether they should be allowed out the house on their own.
