What happens regarding compensation when you're travelling on a Eurail Pass (or similar). You could be just as inconvenienced as a ticketholder but I suspect the technicalities would be horrendous. Just trying to prove you were actually on an ICE in Germany (where Passholders don't need to reserve or pay supplements) and for what route would be quite difficult.
Has anyone had experience with this?
