Hi,
I did try to find if this has been discussed previously but couldn't find anything.
I used to be registered as a Dutch Executive Club member and recently changed my address to the UK.
Now when I want to book and upgrade a flight it the fares are much,
much higher compared to before.
I remember the fares in the
Dutch account being the same as the lowest ones on the ordinary booking page – so say I want to book a flight from
AMS to SFO in
CW it costs me around
€2000. When I went to my ExecClub homepage to Book and Upgrade to First:
25000 Miles + ~2000€.
Since I changed my membership country to the
UK however, the fares vary: The same trip as above, comes up at around
€2000 as a normal CW fare – but when I do the same Book & Upgrade procedure it now wants to charge me
25000 Miles + ~6000£.
I stumbled across this a number of times over the past couple of months and it just seems to be a way of reducing the opportunities for UK members to actually use their miles? I always check the 'Lowest Fare' boxes and all the scenarios should be comparable but it always ends up costing considerably more than it used to. It used to be nice being able to buy a fairly priced WT+ or CW ticket and then upgrade it but this is just completely unreasonable.
Is this something they changed in principle (and coincidentally around the same time I edited my address) or because I changed the membership country – in that case I will be changing it back soon ...
Thanks for your replies !
