I believe the earlier *wood cancellation policy was due to the airlines cancelling-- not merely the fact that 'ash' was nearing or over the city. If your flight has not been cancelled for next week, I would imagine it would be up to the hotel itself, if it wanted to extend a courtesy or 'free' cancellation to you.
