The connections flying over aren't real bad.
You can:
dep ORD at 209p arr RDU at 457p
dep RDU at 630p arr LGW at 655a
dep LGW at 830a arr GIB at 1225p BA6902
For the return it seems to make the most sense to take the late flight out of GIB BA6907 arr LGW at 10:45p transfer to LHR that night, spend the night, and fly out in the morning on either AA99 or AA87 LHR-ORD.
