As others have indicated, there are already 777's flying between DTW and ATL. DAL105 DTW-ATL currently operates as a 777-ER or LR five days a week Monday-Thursday and Sunday through the end of May. Things get a bit confusing in June, but there will still be 5 777 flights a week from DTW to ATL (and vice versa).
Thanks! It is interesting that they are rotating the 777s through DTW as well.
