okay folks, anyone want to share the secret?? is it just dumb luck? i have been trying to book flights that i think might sell out, but to no avail. i am a 100% leisure traveller (and soon to be international graduate student) so i could really use some vouchers!</font>
Alot of it is dumb luck. If you can overnight, the last flight of the day between major markets is a good bet. Also, the 1st flight of the day between major business markets is likely also.

Check http://www.bumptracker.com for some ideas.

I've had really good luck getting DBC flying out of DEN on the Sunday after Christmas going to either LAX, ORD or any NY area airport.

Since you're a 100% leisure traveller, if you school schedule allows, try to fly anywhere the Sunday/Monday of following any holiday, especially Thanksgiving. Since July 4th falls on a Thursday this year, that Sunday might be a good day to try.
