i went to the original Hermes store in Paris, and the sales told me a Birkin was going for less than EURO 5900 (and if you are a visitor reside outside of EU, you get 10% of the tax rebate back), and you need to order it in advance and you could only pick it up (and order it) in person and come back in 6 months.

i went to the Hermes store on Madison Ave in NY, and the sales actually has some Birkin there in the store, one 25cm and a few 40cm, and the 25cm is going for like at least USD9000+ with tax, it is definitely cheaper to get it in paris but the stores in Paris usually don't have anything in stock and they go fast the sales said.

and the Hermes store in Hong Kong doesn't have any Togo Birkin, the waitlist is 2 years. I heard the Hermes in Japan has some birkin in stock, but they are definitely more expensive the Paris and the U.S.
