It is not illegal for a passenger to bring bullets on board a plane, but they must be properly checked and you have to let the airline know about it.
Huh? What am I missing here? Bullets are NOT a danger, but grandma's applesauce/water/infant formula/contact lens solution . . . IS???
In the interest of behaving in full conformity with current law, perhaps we should all start carrying ammunition in our bags when we fly . . .
