I'm traveling in steerage from SFO to AMS in July. Its my first time on KLM.

My expectations for food, service and physical comfort on coach travel are generally low these days, and I don't see the point in complaining. I try to take the attitude that it is what it is and lower my expectations accordingly by bringing water, a snack, sleeping pills and a good book.

But I've come across relentlessly negative reviews of KLM and was wondering if those more knowledgeable than I could confirm them.

I am ready for the inedible food, and sullen service. The one interesting complaint is that the seats are hard (as well as cramped). I doubt the pitch is worse than any other airlines, but how hard can an airline seat be? Should I bring a pillow along with the trail mix?
