By switching to almost all CR7’s on the ORD-DTW route, UA is forcing me to fly DL (yuck!). Flights were sold out for one trip and > $750 RT for another trip. I make this RT somewhat frequently, and this is now the 4th time this has happened to me in the last 6 months.

Yes, these are ticket purchases for flights less than 14 days out - that's the nature of business…but, companies are less & less willing to pay extremely high fares for last minute flights. Understandably, given the current economic conditions, my corporate travel is forcing DL out of ORD or WN out of MDW. Both DL & WN are flying larger planes (DC9 & 737 respectively) and have a much lower ticket cost. I was able to get tickets for both trips on DL for less than the one UA flight. I guess competition between the airlines is good to keep fares lower, but I just wish it meant that UA would lower it’s airfares to match them.
