I did book a round trip, so I waited until the return date was one year out. I booked San Fransico to Bkk and Bkk to LAX on the return. I called a month later to book the Alaska segments to get to SFO and called again two weeks later to book the return from LAX to Spokane. I did not request or receive an open jaw, to my knowledge. I did have to pay $2.50 taxes on the outbound segemnt on AS and again on the return two weeks later when I booked. I think the total taxes were around $43, plus the $25 AS booking fee(which was only charged once). So for 140k AS ff miles and $68, I got a First Class ticket on CX and hopefully a really great trip next February!!!
