AA certainly take the premium stickers seriously at NRT. I checked in with UA in Beijing in Y class - obviously no stickers attached, flew UA to NRT, and then connected to AA to SJC with a VIPOW to J class.

When I got my bags back from AA at SJC (first off the belt), they had carefully stapled the orange premium stickers onto the existing UA luggage tag.
