What a strange stipulation. Is that a gold DL Amex in the photo? Yet I can't use mine in the promo?

Edited to add: I was solicited with this offer by email. Because of "basic" appearing in the terms & conditions, I asked DL if my Gold DL AMEX is actually a valid card to use with this promo.

Here's the nonsensical response, "This offer is for SkyMiles credit card member who received the offer from Delta. Offer is not transferable and cannot be combined with other offers." Sigh...

Edited to add: Since I was solicited by email, I wrote a 2nd time asking if my gold card is considered "basic" and eligible. The response was even worse, "Starting June 1, 2010 the primary card holder of Gold, Platinum or Reserve Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express*, may check their first bag without a fee on any domestic Delta and Delta Connection operated flight. This waiver applies to bags that are within the standard baggage allowance, Excess bag fees apply for overweight and/or oversized bags. This new benefit does not apply on Delta marketed codeshare flights"

Morons.
