Mrs Globalste holds a senior position in VAT at one of the big 4, I hear about VAT stuff non-top.

eg, new manual required for the car, dealership puts VAT on the price, Mrs Globalste gets on the phone and has a rant as books are zero rated

we want some fruit trees in the garden, gardener charges cost plus VAT and gets into an arguement with Mrs Globalste as trees which produce food for consumption are zero rated

More?

The whole Nectar Points scheme is going through court, if european courts rule VAT is applicable then Nectar will be scrapped as no longer viable

European Courts are currently taking a case around VAT on company perks which may effect company-wide schemes such as CycletoWork, all because a large pharmaceutical company got greedy and didn't obey the rules, potentially ruining it for everyone.

Pringles argued their products were not crisps as they were <50% potato to avoid VAT, ditto Giant Hulahoops.

Jaffacakes - dont get me started on that one...

Hotels - different VAT system depending on whether you are outside cancellation policy, or do not turn up. Argument is that its the same thing.
