By mathnig departure times and dates in the itinerary one can determine that one fo the flights is on UA metal, the other on CO. And that would be evident....how? From the itin? Ah, no.

It isn't Continental's job to make sure SeatGuru and SeatExpert are showing the correct seatmaps.
Seat maps are tied to a specific plane type, that's it. A plane is not tied to a flight number until closer to the flight date. I have a flight booked that was a 737-700 a few days ago, yesterday it switched to a 737-800.
Continental is getting a whole lot of phone traffic due to the merger (I'm guessing). You can send an e-mail and someone will get back to you.
