Thanks for the responses! I feel more comfortable already.

Amanjiwo was a thought (I'd love to go) but it being rainy season plus the extra travel made me take pass here. Ideally we'll be back in a few years to tour the Indonesian Amans.

Amantaka was not on the radar so I'll do some research on that.

I am jealous of your hotel selection....Amanpulo is my favoriate place in the world. That said I might reconsider the HKG stop and stay at the Pen if its your first trip to asia it might give you a slightly more authentic experiance. I found the FS to be very nice but not all that different from any FS city property in the world

Good luck!
I've actually been to Hong Kong a lot (10+ times) but no where else in Asia. I've never stayed at the Pen or the FS but I prefer Central/Soho/Causeway Bay over TST/Mongkok so that's the primary reason choosing the FS. The Pen sounds great and was/is still in the mix. (I won't have to choose that hotel for some time.)

As far as BKK we were leaning more towards non-city destinations to complement HK. It does make an easy stop to split up travel and I realize we *should* be going there if we are going through Thailand but I think for this trip we'll stick with more relaxing locations.

Thanks again!
