There is such a great little travel power strip you can get at Magellen's that even has a USB slot as well as space for all the larger plugs, with a cord that wraps around the length of the power strip and plugs into itself for compactness. It is such a boon to those who do "get away from it all", but also carry reasonable travel accessories that do need far more than the single outlet in most cabins. Yes, this would be a serious detriment to not be able to carry and use.

Ipods are great for listening to books and it needs recharging; cameras need recharging; women often like several electric personal care appliances like electric curlers and personal hairdryers which can get used daily; men like rechargeable portable razors; the IPad is turning out to be a terrific compact travel companion for photo storage as well as a travel journal resource.

Count me as one who loves to get away from it all but that includes being able to preserve travel treasures along the way. And that does now include a fairly extensive array of electronic plug-ins. Cruise companies need to deal with this new reality; not actively discourage it.

May practical travel solar units soon enter this picture for both ships and passengers who do want to be "wired" for the benefit of their inner travel experiences so they can last far longer than the cruise itself.
