i actually came back on today to answer my own question. i booked a saver award ticket yesterday in XY, called GS and asked them how it worked. she said it was 'noted in the record.' signed on this morning and UDU request is pending on my itin. usually if you're in the wrong class it'll automatically say denied, so it seems like UA is allowing UDUs on awards, and you're allowed to put in for it before 120 hr window. thumbs up.
