As the trip included the first class segments from JFK-HKG, they basically automatically changed my seat to the first class cabin at the airport. (This could not be done in advance, however). Service, as others pointed out was the same as business class, but still fantastic.
Thanks for the update! I think this answers the OPs questions - that yes, in some cases, holding an F ticket may assist you will getting into F class seating on a two class service.
