Having a look at my itinerary for this year I am approximately 2300 miles short of achieving gold.

Rather that a mileage run, I would like to simply pay a cash upgrade for my flight MAA - PVG

What price can i expect to pay? (the difference between the two?) and will i get the full 9200 tier miles by travelling paid for upgraded business rather than the 5200 from my original economy ticket?

Also, will i have to upgrade the whole trip due to the new tier system, or could i just upgrade DXB - PVG to get enough miles?
