While the merge of the tulip and ClipArtGlobe does look impressive, there are loads of other factors to take into account when creating a logo - one of them being the ability to copy/reproduce the logo in various formats.

While the subtle globe overlaid on the tulip looks great, when you have to show the logo as black and white, grayscale, two-color and full-color, on a variety of paper stocks and surfaces like walls (and yes, plane exteriors), you can see why most logos are simpler.
