There are two YUP fares that I am aware of: the Y26UP and the Y14UP. Y26UP is a full fare Y ticket which is automatically upgraded to a confirmed first class seat (capacity controlled A class). It costs the same as Y fare. The fare is only offered in specific markets (usually requiring a connection through a hub). I have never seen a non-stop YUP fare, but I assume there could be. If you don't find one in your market (i.e. - SJC-JFK/EWR/LGW), try an alternate airport. I got one from SJC-ORD-HPN.

The second type, Y14UP, is a discounted Y26UP with a 14 day advance purchase requirement and is non-refundable. This was the fare launched against a similar NW fare special started last year. This is in even less markets, and is also capacity controlled A class. This is a steal of a fare if you can get one. I could get a Y14UP from SJC-DFW-RDU for about $1,300 when full F would be about $2,300. (Of course corporate discount made it only $850, now a REAL bargain vs. a coach fare of about $600 at the time.)

Hope this helps. Oh, by the way, both fares qualify for 1.5 Q-Points for EXP requal!!!!
