Actually, thank you for this update. I now understand more of this situation.

If you buy a ticket with a CO-flight number (does not matter where you buy it from), you should be able to upgrade any fare class (including M-class) using CO miles (with or without co-pay $ depending on fare class).

You have purchased a ticket from LH.com.
The flight number is a LH-codeshare number (is this correct?).
You now see the itinerary on CO.com
you want to upgrade the CO segment using onepass miles plus $.

This is NOT a star alliance award. I was wrong in my earlier post.

I actually have no idea if this flight can be upgraded or not.
Since you have an LH flight number on the ticket, I feel this ticket cannot be upgraded as per the upgrade rules, etc.

I am hoping someone else will also comment on this. I do want to know the correct answer!!
