Oh right - when was the last time the US government (of either party) stepped in and stopped a merger like this? Not gonna happen in this universe. I have no doubt whatsoever that this merger is going through.

As for "you just lost a good deal of points in your credit score", I believe your concerns are misinformed. I have excellent credit, and getting an occasional credit card is not going to damage it. Sure, if you're churning cards heavily, or if your credit is shaky to begin with, yes, it's a concern. For me, not so much.

If you feel it's a stupid idea, fine. I disagree.
