I needed to have my iPhone headset replaced because the button stopped working; even though the problem was with the headset they checked the iPhone - and when they saw it was jailbroken they went ahead and gave me a new headset even though I was told I'd technically violated the warranty by jailbreaking.

I'm not saying you'll never get Apple to service something you dropped, I'm just saying you shouldn't count on it.
