My mistake, the CDG-NRT was indeed 60k. However, I am certain that my PHL-CDG-KIX and NRT-CDG-PHL cost me "only" 45k each in March 2009!
The mileage calculator they provide shows that both are 80k now, indeed. But as I understand it, the table shows that a business class on a direct flight (Delta?) JFK-NRT would be 60k (120k round trip).

But apparently you
can cancel the return leg of your award ticket after you've done your stop-over on the outbound leg
