Welcome Aboard: A Guide to CO forum for UA'ers

I noticed someone had started a similar thread on the UA board, and thought it was a nice gesture. Let's make this thread a resource (beyond the very comprehensive FAQ) for the UA FF'ers who might be wandering over to CO land for the first time. Tips and tricks to maximize your visit to our humble little slice of the interwebs.
  • CO Insider: is our liaison with CO. He is an invaluable resource, a fantastic communicator, and customer advocate. With the merger, he's going to be very limited in what he says and when, so please don't be frustrated (or call him out) for leaving us hanging on some issues. Trust that if he could answer your question, he would. CO Insider is also a problem solver. Have a legitimate problem with CO, post about it and if he feels it's warranted, will investigate and respond. It's not polite however to "call him out".
  • Our mods: are excellent and they treat us very well. I don't doubt there's going to be some heated discussions over the next year or so, and they are going to have their hands full. Please think before you post.
  • The Penalty Box: no, this is not a log of all the tarmac delays. It's our fourm's respite from the .
  • F, J, whY: CO (as of yesterday) was not a three cabin airline. F is domestic first. J is CO's international premium cabin ("Business First" of BF) and whY is the "main" cabin. Don't worry, the vast majority of people think CO's whY cabin is very uncomfortable and we can't wait for E+ (if it ever comes). Many of us equate whY seats with church pews.
  • ELR: ELR is our very poor attempt at E+. Essentially exit rows and bulkheads.
  • pda.continental.com/info: CO is all about transparency. This site lets you know what to expect on your flight, what seats are open, and where you are on the upgrade list.
  • Two-ply coalition: We really like our Presidents Clubs (PClubs). Free booze, free interwebs (with no pleading for a T-Mo access card), and generally very nice and well maintained amenities. Where the PClubs fall short is, in certain stations, they stock the lavs with one-ply. I mean, really?
  • Cheese Soup: Chelsea catering is a wholly owned subsidiary of CO. For the most part they do an excellent job of catering "meal time" flights. Occasionally they have a complete lapse of judgment symbolized by the now dead cheese soup. If you're lactose or mushroom intolerant, be warned -- Chelsea has a heavy hand with these two items. If you're served beef jerky, don't feed it to any dogs. Trust me.
  • EWR: I think most of us have a love/hate relationship with EWR on these boards. CO's mainline facilities at EWR really aren't that bad. The airport itself, outside of CO's control, is an unmitigated disaster -- just like every other NYC area airport.
  • CoCo: Continental Connection.
  • Elite Access: is how CO bundles their package of "elite" services. They include priority check-in, priority security lanes, priority boarding (you can use the blue carpet at any time), etc. Just be warned, in certain stations "everyone's elite" and using the non-elite services can be faster. That's beyond the comprehension of most people, but if you can accept not walking across the pretty blue carpet, you might be able to save yourself some time.
  • WE-DON'T-CARE: CO's "customer relations" venue. Getting them to admit fault or an error is like milking a rock. Sometimes it's worth it, often it's not. Just like everything else in life, pick and choose your battles.
  • Pres. Plat: CO used to have a "secret" tier above Plat called CO*. It was based on spends, similar to GS, but without any published benefits. CO announced they were placing a threshold above Plat (75k EQM's) based on annual spend of $30,000. This is our "GS" although this level really hasn't been formalized yet. On this issue of status, you'll notice that most folks don't wear their status on their sleeves on these boards. In fact, most of the regulars don't even put their status in their FT profile. We, for the most part, treat everyone with respect whether they are Plat, Gold, Silver, or a General Member. The notable exception of this is "Generalisimo's" which is an unpublished un-status level reserved for select Argentinians.

What did I miss?
