Hi, I am traveling from Auckland NZ to Doha in a few weeks business class (J and C). The ticket is being booked on Emirates. My choice is either to join Emirates Skywards, but I'm not sure if I will use the miles - or accrue United miles.

My question is, how many miles will I get on United? The United site says that I will get 125% miles if booked in C or J class. Is this 125% of actual miles? Emirates says that I will get 28,000 miles, but I don't think I'll get that many if I book through United. Also, will the miles that I accrue count toward elite status? My year to date EQM are 10,500 and 3 segments. Will I get bumped up to Premier Executive? I don't think so, but I'm pretty new at this.

Thank you very much for any quick help you can give. I just feel that Emirates miles are more limited whereas I often fly to the US -- plus United miles can get me upgrades on Star Alliance flights (like my primary airline, ANZ).
