I don't really understand your logic. It's either okay to take food from the lounge or not. This couple may have taken more than you would take but you justify that it's okay to take just one can and one pack of cookies ... is this not stealing also? The food is designed to be eaten in the lounge after all?

Just to be clear ... I'm happy to put a few cookies in my hand luggage and maybe a bag of kettle chips and don't consider this stealing from BA.
